The Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia (JPSM) successfully organized the Forest Biodiversity Scientific Expedition Conference 2025 at Raia Hotel & Convention Centre, Kuala Terengganu. Since 1999, JPSM has led 50 scientific expeditions across Permanent Reserved Forests in Peninsular Malaysia, resulting in numerous discoveries of flora and fauna, 31 published proceedings, and 38 seminars.
This year’s three-day conference served as a platform for researchers and scientists to present findings from four expeditions conducted in Bukit Jernih Forest Reserve, Perlis; Gunung Arong Forest Reserve, Johor; Gunung Nuang, Selangor; and Hulu Terengganu Tambahan Forest Reserve, Terengganu. The event was attended by nearly 400 participants, including representatives from KPKKT, government agencies, research institutions, universities, and NGOs.
The conference highlighted the importance of scientific collaboration in strengthening knowledge, promoting tropical forest biodiversity conservation, and supporting national sustainability goals, including the move towards Net Zero Carbon.
