Fish Fry Release Programme into Public Waters

The Terengganu Timber Management Group (KPKKT) has been part of the companies supporting the Fish Fry Release Program into Public Waters, organized by Golden Pharos Berhad in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries Malaysia (DOF), the Terengganu State Forestry Department (JPNT), the Dungun Municipal Council, and PTT Synergy Group Berhad. A total of 15,000 Lampam fish fry (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) were released into the Jongok Batu River, Dungun, Terengganu, a river that flows from the forest concession managed by KPKKT. This initiative aims to enhance the river’s ecosystem, which serves as a primary source of income for the local community, while also fulfilling Principle 4 of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, which focuses on community relations by adding economic value to the local population. The program was officiated by YB Dr. Azman Ibrahim, Chairman of the Terengganu Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Food Security & Commodities Committee.
